Miami Heat vs. Phoenix Suns Pick & Prediction NOVEMBER 6th 2024
Preview and Prediction
The Phoenix Suns were swiftly eliminated from the first round of the previous season's playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, resulting in the dismissal of coach Frank Vogel.
Now, six months later, the Suns have started strong under new coach Mike Budenholzer, entering Wednesday's game against the Miami Heat with a five-game winning streak.
In their most recent game, Phoenix overcame a nine-point deficit in the final minutes to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 118-116. Kevin Durant's layup with 24 seconds remaining secured the victory.
Durant, who scored 35 points in the game, praised the team's ability to stick to their game plan and come out with a win. He also noted the positive energy and camaraderie among the players.
There were rumors that Durant did not mesh well with former coach Vogel, but he feels a different energy with Budenholzer at the helm. He credits the coach's attention to detail for the team's success.
Despite star guard Devin Booker having a season-low 13 points in the game, the Suns were able to prevail. Booker, who joined the team last season, has struggled with injuries and finding his role on the team.
Meanwhile, the Heat are beginning a six-game road trip, with their next four games against Western Conference opponents. They are coming off a close loss to the Sacramento Kings, with Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis scoring the game-winning basket with less than a second left.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra expressed frustration with the team's inability to secure the rebound and ultimately the win. Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro each scored 27 points for the Heat, with Butler scoring 15 in the final period.
The Heat also received a boost from rookie guard Pelle Larsson, who scored 13 points off the bench in just his third appearance for the team.
Spoelstra praised Larsson's two-way abilities and noted his experience and toughness, despite being a rookie in the NBA.
Veteran forward Kevin Love returned to the Heat after missing the previous game for personal reasons, but sat out for conditioning purposes. He will also miss Wednesday's game. Second-year pro Jaime Jaquez Jr. will also be out due to illness.
Phoenix swept both meetings against Miami last season.
